Newport Polo will host the 28th annual Rotary Benefit Match this Saturday, May 26th at 5 pm to kick-off the summer season on the Memorial holiday weekend and support the Newport Rotary Club‘s scholarship & charitable programs. Opening Day of the Newport International Polo Series will be on Saturday, June 2nd at 5 pm, when Poland make its debut as the 34th nation to compete against USA.
The 6-chukker exhibition polo match will feature USA vs. Poland for a duration of approximately 2 hours. The match will commence with the raising of the Polish flag and national anthems, and will conclude with an après polo culinary celebration of a Bialowieza Forest Boar Roast (by advanced reservation).
Competing for Poland will be Marianna Olbrych, Jakub Czekaj, Maciej Olbrych and Pawel Olbrych. The origins of polo in Poland date back to the late 19th century and today there are seven hubs for the sport around the country. The Polish national team participated on the world’s stage in the FIP European Championship in 2016 and is planning its strategy for 2018.
Official team headquarters will be at Hotel Viking, renown for superior guest accommodations, exceptional cuisine, rooftop entertainment, European spa and desirable Bellevue Avenue address. A Season Kickoff Bash on the eve of the match welcomes supporters at the one and only Clarke Cooke House by RSVP.

During the match, a weekly door prize drawing of a magnum of Veuve Clicquot Champagne and prize for the Best Tailgate from Stella Artois will be awarded. Specialty vendors and concessionaires will be present in the Hospitality village at the polo grounds, including the Twisted Pony Cocktail Bar, Horseshoe Wine Bar, Newport Polo Pro Shop, Brahmin among others, and gourmet food trucks.
