The Zombies Thursday at Greenwich Odeum (East Greenwich)
60’s favorites The Zombies have been re-born in recent years, appearing at festivals and a touring on their classic album Odyssey and Oracle in 2015. They were the second British act (behind the Beatles) to top the U.S. charts in the 1960’s with songs like “She’s Not There,” and “Time of the Season.” Thursday, they’ll bring the hits and more to the Greenwich Odeum – a few tickets remain here. The Salvation Music Series Thursday (Newport)
Seek salvation Thursday as the Salvation Music Series continues with the twang inflected rockabilly of The Weisstronauts along with the rockin’ outlaw sounds of Haley Thompson-King (pictured above). Thompson-King’s debut album Psychotic Melancholia totally burns – it’s been on our playlist all week – turn it up to 11! Check out her video below to see what we mean. Chaka Khan Friday at Twin River (Lincoln)
Funk things up Friday night as R&B/Funk legend and 10-time Grammy winner Chaka Khan plays the Twin River Events Center. The singer, known for hits like “Tell Me Something Good,” “I’m Every Woman,” and “Sweet Thang” has enjoyed a career spanning almost 50 years. You’ll certainly enjoy seeing her Friday night – a handful of tickets remain – details here.
Kristin and Tanya at City Winery all Weekend (Boston)
Newport’s most famous musical sisters are Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donnelly, founders of the Throwing Muses as well as Belly, the Breeders and other side projects. This weekend, they take over the City Winery in downtown Boston with shows Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They don’t gig together much – who knows what they have in store – this one’s worth the ride. Orleans Saturday at Stadium Theater (Woonsocket)
Once upon a time, everyone sang along to AM/FM staples like “Still the One” and “Dance With Me.” Those tunes came from Cape Cod based Orleans, a band that rules the airwaves full of acoustic guitars and three part harmony .
