Youth April School Vacation Camps
April 16 – 20, 2018

Keep young ones artfully engaged all week! The Coleman Center for Creative Students will offer two camps during Newport April School Vacation week, April 16-20, 2018.

In Stop Motion Animation Camp, students will explore the process of stop motion animation from concept to the completed short film. Clay and other materials will be used to build characters and sets, photograph them and import their frames into animation software for editing.

In American Girl Art Camp: Fashion through History, students will explore the history of fashion while creating “looks” and accessories for their American Girl doll. They will gain hands on experience with a digital camera to finish the week with a fashion shoot for their dolls with new outfits, inspired by history trends.

Full camp descriptions and registration is available at or by calling 401-848-ARTS (2787).

Youth Summer Art Camps
July 2 – August 31

All camps are run Monday – Friday, from July 2 – August 31. Camps in digital photography, collage, clay, filmmaking, interior design, fashion, architecture and more are available for youth ages 6 – 12. For families who wish to extend the camp day until 5 pm, add on the optional drop-in open studio.

Adult Workshops

A one-day workshop is a perfect introduction to the Coleman Center for new students, if you’d like to try a new medium, or if you are crunched for time. Workshops this spring and summer are available in jewelry, glass, ceramics and photography. Enjoy the always popular Raku Workshop to learn the ancient Japanese firing technique. Or, transform a traditional windowpane into a mixed media work of art as you create a “sea glass” window. From Repurpose your Jewelry with jeweler Tiffany Peay, to Creative iPhone Photography with Peter Silvia, there is a workshop for all.

Full workshop descriptions and registration is available at or by calling 401-848-ARTS (2787).
