On December 22, 2017, two lobster crates were reportedly left overnight at the Newport Shipyard docks with six cats left inside without access to any food or water for an undetermined amount of time.

At this time, Potter League for Animals is offering a reward up to $2,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for abandoning these six cats.

Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. (RISPCA)is investigating, and anyone with information about the case is asked to call (401) 438-8150, x6 or email at cruelty@rispca.com.
