  • Midtown Oyster Bar – Traditionally open until 1 a.m.
  • Mokka Coffeehouse – Open until 12 p.m.

  • Perro Salado – Open at 11:30 a.m., until ?
  • Saltwater at Newport Harbor Hotel – Saltwater’s menu features our signature shareable items such as Array of the Bay, Fried Seafood to include: Shrimp, Clams, Oysters, Fluke, Lobster Cakes, & Waffle Fries, will be available on December 24th, & 25th.  Saltwater is serving breakfast from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and their all-day menu is available from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., with the bar open until 10 p.m.  Saltwater is also available for private events including holiday gatherings from 20 – 100 guests!  Reservations are accepted and open seating is available in our fireside lounge, including our community tables. Contact Saltwater at 401-848-3303 for reservations.

Restaurants open on Christmas Day in Newport

Born and raised in Rhode Island, Belmore graduated from Coventry High School and the Community College of Rhode Island. In addition to living in Newport for 10 years, he has lived in Portsmouth, Coventry, Providence, Smithfield, Burrillville, and East Greenwich.

Belmore currently serves as Vice President of the Board Of Directors for Fort Adams Trust and on the Board of Directors for Potter League For Animals. He previously served on the Board of Lucy's Hearth and the Arts & Cultural Alliance for Newport County.

Belmore visits Newport every couple of weeks to support the 12+ paid contributors What'sUpNewp has on the ground across Rhode Island, a place he called home for 39 years.

Belmore is a member of Local Independent Online News (LION) Publishers, Society of Professional Journalists, and the North American Snowsports Journalists Association.

In 2020, Belmore was named Member of the Year by LION and won the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County's Dominque Award.
