Newport Skating Center

Waterfront Productions LLC/Newport Waterfront Events, owners of the Newport Skating Center, announced on Friday, November 17th that the rink will remain at its current location at the Newport Yachting Center for the 2017-2018 winter season with its Grand Opening & Holiday Lighting Ceremony scheduled for Friday, December 8th at 5:00 p.m.  The owners of the rink are also working closely with developer Peregrine Group to relocate the skating rink elsewhere on the property once the recently approved 84-room boutique hotel is built in future years.

Colin Kane, a partner at Peregrine Group, told me on What’sUpNewp Radio Edition on AM 1540 WADK this week, that his company plans on moving the skating rink to the lot in front of the condos/behind the Santander atm in 2018.

“We are thrilled that the rink will reopen at its same location this winter with a full schedule of activities so we hope to see everyone out on the ice starting with our traditional Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony on December 8th,” said Michele Maker Palmieri, Owner and President of Waterfront Productions, the parent company of Newport Waterfront Events. “We want to thank Peregrine Group for another year of donating the space for the Skating Center, along with all our sponsors to-date for their support as the rink requires corporate and community support each year to remain open.”  Palmieri added that if any companies, organizations or individuals are interested in rink partnerships, including dasher board signage, or contributing in some way to this year’s skating season, they are encouraged to call 888-900-8640 or email
