Just two weeks after winning the Special Election for Senate District 13, Dawn Euer will officially be sworn in to represent the people of Newport and Jamestown on Tuesday, September 5th at 3 pm.

Euer will get right to work in the Senate, both the Senate and the House have committed to returning for a special Fall Session on September 19 to take up bills that were in the balance when the stalemate over the state budget occurred earlier this year.

The Democratic upstart who won over three primary election rivals earlier this summer, defeated Republican Michael Smith, Independent Kim Ripoli, and Green Party candidate Gregory Larson during the August 22nd special election.

Euer will replace longtime State Senator M. Teresa Paiva Weed, who resigned her District 13 seat (Newport, Jamestown) in the spring to become executive director of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island.

The ceremony will take place in the Senate Lounge at the State House, the official Facebook Page for the Rhode Island Senate will broadcast the ceremony live.
