With Newport Folk Festival and Newport Jazz Festival scheduled to take place at Fort Adams State Park over the next two weekends, it should come to no surprise that there will be heavy traffic over the next two weekends.
It will surprise some and there may be a few that even say they didn’t know, so Newport Police Department has issued a press release hoping to warn all neighbors, attendees and anyone else that comes close to the route of traffic in and out of the Fort that there will be significant traffic delays this weekend.
The statement from Newport Police Department;
The Newport Folk Festival will be held Friday July 28, 2017 to Sunday July 30, 2017 at Fort Adams State Park. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and it is scheduled to end at sundown.
The parking for the festival opens at 8:00 a.m. There will be uniformed Newport Police Officers assigned to the festival to assist with traffic control.
All three days of the festival are sold out and we anticipate a heavy volume of traffic. Please plan your travels accordingly.
