Paula Mills Washburn, 75, of Newport passed away peacefully at home surrounded by

her loved ones on Saturday, June 24, 2017 after a brief illness.

grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Treasa Cassedy of West Palm

Born October 9, 1941, in New Rochelle, NY, Paula was the daughter of Anthony B. and

Caroline F. Cassedy. She was one of 6 children raised in Weston, CT and attended St.

Paula was a devout Catholic and had an encyclopedic knowledge of Christian theology.

She studied and practiced the teachings of St. John Paul II, St. Teresa of Calcutta, St.

Faustina, and St. Birgitta. Paula was a strong woman with a keen sense of humor and

insight into people. She had a natural and easy way about her sharing warmth,

smile, intelligence, gentle demeanor, and generous gift of love will forever

remain her legacy.

A Mass in celebration of Paula’s life will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 10:30 a.m. at

Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, Salve Regina University, 100 Ochre Point Avenue, Newport,
