The “Music on the Porch” series at the Eisenhower House in Fort Adams State Park premieres with the Lois Vaughan Jazz Quartet on June 29th from 5 – 7 PM.

The concert is free to attend; however attendees should bring a blanket or beach chair to sit on the lawn and enjoy the music.  Parking is free and refreshments are available to purchase from Newport Storm Breweries as well as, special cuisine from Blackstone Caterers’ A Fork in the Road food truck. The concerts are for all ages and attendees can enjoy the views of Narragansett Bay as they listen to upbeat jazz and Latin music. Other concerts are scheduled for July 12th and August 17th. No coolers please.

“With the broad interest in the Eisenhower House as seen with the spring Free Tour weekends and the recent highly attended Chamber Connections event, the free concerts are just another reason to visit the park and the House,” offered Joe Dias, Executive Director for the Fort Adams Trust that operates the Eisenhower House.  “We look forward to doing one show a month through the summer for the enjoyment of the community at large,” Dias further imparted.

“Lois Vaughan is a community icon having performed throughout Newport County and beyond for over 25 years so it was an obvious choice to have her quartet be the first to premiere for the series,” stated Jen Chapin, Director of Special Events for the Fort Adams Trust. “The House itself, the porch and the expansive lawn that it overlooks make for a perfect setting to have performances that entertain everyone,” she added.
