The inaugural launch of the “Music on the Porch” concert series at the Eisenhower House in Fort Adams State Park premiered with the Lois Vaughan Jazz Quartet on June 29th with over 200 attendees.
The free concert featured the area renowned quartet performing for two hours on the House’s porch along with refreshments from Newport Storm Breweries as well as, special cuisine from Blackstone Caterers’ A Fork in the Road food truck. The concert series is for all ages and children can play on the Eisenhower House lawn as parents enjoy the music. The next concerts are scheduled for July 12th with The Kane Brothers and August 17th with The Elderly Brothers.
“The inaugural kick-off show for “Music on the Porch” could not have gone any better with fantastic attendance,” stated Jen Chapin, Director of Special Events for the Fort Adams Trust. “It was a great family gathering complemented with excellent cuisine and beverage from the Trust’s partners’ “A Fork in the Road” food truck and Newport Storm Breweries,” Chapin added.
“Since the Trust was granted management of the Eisenhower House in February of this year, we have been trying to gain local exposure and education of the property through events such as spring time “Free Tours” and a recent Chamber Connections gathering,” said Sandy Kristiansson, Chair of the Marketing Committee for the Fort Adams Trust. “The “Music on the Porch” concert series is just one of our many avenues to reach out to the community to showcase how wonderful the property is and featuring area music icon Lois Vaughan was the perfect act to premiere the series with,” he further offered.
