Though the $447.8 million Powerball jackpot was won in California, a convenience store in Newport sold a $50,000 winning Powerball ticket from Saturday’s night’s draw, according to the Rhode Island Lottery.

The winning ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall number to win $50,000. The winner did not purchase the PowerPlay feature, which would have multiplied the prize by 2, the PowerPlay number for Saturday night’s draw, to win $100,000 instead of $50,000.

A woman from West Sayville, New York, claimed the $50,000 winning Powerball ticket from the June 10th draw, according to to the Rhode Island Lottery. The winning ticket matched four numbers and the PowerBall® number to win $50,000. She and her husband were in Rhode Island that weekend celebrating their anniversary when she stopped in J D Convenience, 202 Thames St., Newport, and purchased the winning ticket.
