Osvaldo Cortes, 64, of Newport died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Newport Hospital. Osvaldo was born October 16, 1952 in Aquadilla, Puerto Rico. He is the son of the late Juan Cortes-Nieves and the late Carmen Muniz. He was the husband of the late Migdalia Lopez-Pabon.

Osvaldo was a former resident of 76 Broadway and a longtime resident of Bayside Village with his wife Migdalia. He has been a faithful member of the Second Way to Canaan Pentecostal Church in Middletown. “Little Man” as he was known by friends and family, was also a lifelong Yankees fan.

He is survived by one sister Gladys Cruz of New York, NY, and his step children Jesus Crespo, Eda Olmedo, Evelyn Miranda, Madeline Miranda, and Orlando Alvarez, his 17 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, and many more extended family in New York and beyond.

Calling hours will be Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00-9:00pm at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.

The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Saturday, March 4 in Memorial Funeral Home, with Pastor Carmen Villafane officiating. Burial will be in Island Cemetery, Newport.
