The Newport Art Museum continues to engage and inspire the whole family with “Second Saturdays” (January 14, 10am-12pm), an engaging family-oriented program designed to inspire young minds and satisfy the curiosity of every member of the family. Each Second Saturday is uniquely curated based on a theme, and includes a variety of activities geared for ages 3-10. This event joins the ranks of the many events and educational programs the Museum currently offers in its galleries at 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport. And the best news? The Second Saturdays program is free with Museum admission! So, reacquaint your family with the Newport Art Museum. Details are available at NewportArtMuseum.org.
This month, enjoy Chinese New Year at the Museum with visiting scholars Li Chen and Zhongyuan Zhang from the Confucius Institute at Bryant University. The Year of the (hardworking, courageous and talented) Rooster officially begins on Saturday, January 28 and is celebrated through February 2, 2017.  Chen will guide us through the ancient art of Tai Chi motions (Taiji) modified specifically for children.  Through slow and controlled movements, students will practice mindfulness while learning this ancient traditional exercise. Parents will surely benefit too!  Zhang will teach the incredible art of Chinese paper cutting. Join us for a wonderful day of movement and making.

Guided Close Looking tour begins promptly at 10:10am
Paper cutting activities and Tai Chi to follow

The Second Saturday program is FREE with Museum admission, preregister at newportartmuseum.org.
