Do you have an idea for a project that would improve the health of your community? The Newport Health Equity Zone (NHEZ) is inviting Newport residents to submit a project proposal that will improve the quality of life for Newport residents living in the HEZ, which include the North End and Broadway neighborhoods, through either neighborhood infrastructure improvements or supportive staffing.

Potential infrastructure improvement ideas should address issues related to physical health, mental health, educational development, access and use of open spaces, and the safety/ease of local transportation. Another option is to propose a plan for supportive staffing to help amplify pre-existing services already in place.

Residents of the Newport HEZ are strongly encouraged to apply, however any resident of Newport is welcome to apply. The selected project(s) will be funded for up to $9,000. Proposals are due no later than Tuesday February 28th, 2017, at 11:59pm. Please e-mail all proposals to Olivia Kachingwe at okachingwe@wrcnbc.org. Proposals can also be mailed to 114 Touro Street, Newport, RI 02840 and MUST be received prior to the due date. Projects will be chosen based on the extent to which they address the needs of the community as outlined in the proposal.
