At a celebration of Island Moving Co’s Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff’s 15th Anniversary season, Kathryn Farrington, Vice President of Marketing at Discover Newport, presented Artistic Director Miki Ohlsen with the agency’s Hospitality Champion Award.

The award recognizes Ohlsen’s outstanding contributions to the hospitality industry of Newport & Bristol county.  “I am honored and thrilled that we could partner with Discover Newport for our 15th Nutcracker season,” Ohlsen said. “The Nutcracker at Rosecliff has become one of the beating hearts of Christmas in Newport.  This year, our audience included patrons from 20 different states and Canada.  And we were glad to build on our wonderful relationship with the Preservation Society of Newport County by expanding the visibility of this beautiful production through Discover Newport’s efforts.”

Janice and Mike Tirrell, of Hartford, CT won the opportunity to see the Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff as the Snow King and Queen as part of their prize, a “Newport Getaway.”  The contest mounted by Discover Newport attracted over 1400 entries.  The Tirrells began their Newport Getaway with the performance Friday night, in which they were able to make a grand entrance down Rosecliff’s iconic staircase, which they say they enjoyed very much.  The Newport Nutcracker at Rosecliff closed its 15th season on December 2nd.  Tickets to next year’s Nutcracker will be on sale in July.

Island Moving Co will next perform again at Rosecliff for the Opening Weekend of the Company’s 35th Season, March 3-5, 2017.  For more information about the Company, visit the website at
