Newport City Council will host a special meeting and workshop on Wednesday, November 16th to adopt the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update.

The Newport Planning Board completed and approved the City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update on October 17th and submitted it to City Council.

Section 45.2.2-12 of the Rhode Island General Laws require that a municipality must update its Comprehensive Plan at least once ever five years. Adoption of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update will become effective upon approval of the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Commission and will be incorporated into the City’s Codified Ordinance.

Members of City Council will also recognize and express appreciation to Councilor Camacho and Councilor McLaughlin at the meeting, both lost their campaign for re-election on the City Council and will be departing City Council in December.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers at City Hall and is open to the public.
