As the season for costumes and candy creeps in, we Newporter’s are savoring the last bits of seaside sun, planning our favorite fall adventures, and picking out our favorite pumpkins for pumpkin carving contests.

The What’sUpNewp Crew has harvested a list of the best pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and hayrides in Newport County. Now all you have to worry about is what you’re going to be for Halloween…

In no particular order…

1 – Escobar Highland Farm

The Corn Maze

The 8-acre corn maze is open from September 2nd – November 8th. Try the Maze, Race your Friends, Get Lost and see how long it takes someone to miss you! Hours from Labor Day through November 8th are Friday – 3:30 PM until Dusk, Saturday – 10:00 AM until Dusk and Sunday 11:00 AM until Dusk. $8 admission for 12+, $6 for children 5 – 11 and children under 4 are free!

Hayrides

Enjoy a picturesque ride through the dairy farm and if you’re lucky, you may get a chance to feed apples to the cows. Hayrides are available on weekends this fall for $4.

Pumpkin Patch

After you’ve done the Maze, visit the Pumpkin Patch at Escobar’s Farm. Pick out Jack ‘o Lantern’s for the kids to decorate, and to decorate your house. Prices range from $1 to $15 depending on the size you pick.

2 – Mello’s Farm and Flower Center

Shop from the farmstand or the pumpkin patch for gourds, pumpkins, corn stalks and much more! Open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

3 – Peckham Farm

Peckham Farm is a seventh generation working 8 acre farm. They have giant pumpkins made of buoys that they display in the fall Stop by and check out Peckham Farm’s Pumpkin Patch!

4 – Sweet Berry Farm

Sweet Berry Farm offers pumpkin picking from late September through October, pick from the field or choose one from the farmstand!

Sweet Berry Farm is open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily.

5 – Quonset View Farm

Quonset View Farm, which has been in business for over 100 years, offers a wonderful pick your own pumpkin patch.

6 – Old Stone Orchard

Pick your own apples, pumpkins, gourds, and eggplant. There is also an assortment of other vegetables offered at the stand such as tomatoes, squash, and their new long island cheese pumpkins great for cooking.

7 – Young Family Farm

The annual Young Family Farm Apple Festival is typically held on the second weekend in October on Columbus Day weekend. Live music, apple picking, hayrides, pumpkin picking, pumpkin painting, face painting and much more are just some of the featured activities during this popular event.
