The Newport Art Museum continues to engage and inspire with Art After Dark (August 11, 5-9pm), its popular late night event held monthly on Newport Gallery Night.  Each Art After Dark has unique programming for the whole family.  This event joins the ranks of the many events and educational programs the Museum currently offers in its galleries at 76 Bellevue Avenue, Newport. And the best news. Admission is free or by donation!  So, reacquaint yourself with the Newport Art Museum. Details are available at NewportArtMuseum.org.

For those of you who enjoyed the Museum’s PM Picnic Concert Series in the past, August’s Art After Dark is for you!  The Museum is pleased to host Newport’s own Navy Band Northeast for a free outdoor concert for the whole family on the lovely Museum lawn at 6pm.  This group of talented musicians from across the country is sure to entertain with a blend of jazz, funk, r&b, classic rock, Top 40 and maybe even a little country music!  Bring your blanket and chairs, and a picnic, wander the galleries, try your hand at a scavenger hunt, and relax on the lawn.

Navy Band Northeast’s Rock Band, Rhode Island Sound, performs throughout the Northeastern United States supporting military balls, public concerts and high school recruiting tours.  Navy Band Northeast is 1 of 11 official bands of the United States Navy worldwide.  The band is attached to the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and serves the military and civilian communities throughout the Northeastern United States.  Whether performing for an outdoor summer concert series or a holiday concert in December, the band provides musical entertainment for audiences of all ages. Navy Band Northeast ensembles perform over 300 engagements annually, personifying the quality and professionalism of today’s Navy and instilling pride and patriotism during each and every performance.

One of Navy Band Northeast’s primary responsibilities involves touring their 11 state area of responsibility. Many of the band’s performing units embark each year on concert tours throughout the northeast, allowing the band to reach out to audiences in areas that do not have opportunities to see the Navy’s musical ensembles on a regular basis. The concerts are family-friendly events, meant to be entertaining to veterans, families, individuals and those interested in joining the Navy.

All Navy Band Northeast performances are free and open to the public.  For more information and press materials about Navy Band Northeast, visit https://www.usnwc.edu/About/Navy-Band-Northeast.aspx or like us on Facebook.  For an interview or more information about the performance, please contact:  Navy Band Northeast Public Affairs / 401-841-7181 / amber.hosmer@navy.mil.

Don’t let the heat or sun scare you away, Rhode Island Sound will be performing rain or shine under the Wet Paint bigtop tent!  Food Truck fare and drinks will be available for purchase.
