It’s becoming more and more common that someone is looking for gluten-free options when they dine out or head out for a drink in Newport and around the world. Luckily for those looking to go gluten-free and for us in the service industry, there’s more options than ever when it comes to gluten-free beer, ciders and other cocktails.

Here at the Wharf Pub we dedicate an entire food menu to our gluten-free guests, and have plenty of options when it comes to gluten-free cider and beer.

We though in this weeks column that we’d focus on some great gluten-free drink options that you should give a try, most can be found at liquor stores, some can be found at other bars around town and all can be found down here at The Wharf Pub.

Brand new to the area and gluten-free are;
Farmer Willie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer ABV: 4.5%
Originally hand crafted in a Cape Cod kitchen, Farmer Willie’s is made with fresh pressed ginger and lemon juice. With a slight kick on the end this ginger beer is a perfect summer treat.
New Belgium Glutiny Pale Ale ABV: 6.0%
One of the newest year round options and gluten reduced beers is New Belgium’s Glutiny.
Gluten reduced pale ale made with gluten free grains and malts after the fermentation process that then removes ALL gluten. Come grab a bottle at the Pub today!
Dogfish Head Tweason Ale ABV: 6.0%
Replacing barley with mild Sorghum base. With hints of molasses and vibrant strawberry notes.
Omission Pale Ale ABV: 5.8%
A hopped forward American pale ale made with Hallertau and Cascade hops with a malty finish. *Please note this beer contains .4 gluten. Not all gluten is removed.

Bantam Wunderkind ABV: 5.4% -Available on draft
Bantam’s Flagship cider Wunderkind is dry and refreshing fermented with local apples and flower blossom honey.
Downeast Summer Blend ABV: 4.5%
Fresh pressed hard cider made with lemon juice and ginger. Unfiltered just like all the others.
Bantam Rojo ABV: 5.4%
Fermented with Heirloom and New England apples, ale yeast and then aged with sour cherries and black peppercorns.
Austin East Ciders Pineapple ABV: 5.0% -Available on draft
Unfiltered hard cider made with apples from Washington and Europe. Hearty and full with pineapple flavor.
Champlain Original Hard Cider ABV: 5.0%
Champlain’s flagship cider fermented with farmhouse apples from the cidery in Vermont.
Austin East Ciders Texas Honey ABV: 5.0%
Fermented with bittersweet apples and local Texas honey.
