Veronica “Roni” Elizabeth (Pine) Perry joined her fellow angels on July 14, 2016.

Born December 15, 1941, she was raised with her seven siblings on the Point in Newport.

She was a devoted wife to her only love for 55 years, a doting mother and grandmother and caring daughter, sister and friend.

Roni graduated from Rogers High School in 1960 and married her high school sweetheart.

She worked in administration at Salve Regina University, Newport Restoration Foundation and Sail America.

Supporting her husband’s 22 year Naval career, she helped other Blue Star Families cope with deployments and transfers through her involvement with the Navy Wives Club while stationed away from the City and extended family she loved.

She enjoyed the amusing antics of her cats, playing Scrabble, knitting, sharing her “not-so-secret” pizza recipe, her “red hat” outings and taking care of others. She adored Elvis. Famous for her smile, silver hair and singing off key, Roni was very patriotic and volunteered most of her life.

Roni was predeceased by her parents Frank and Angelina Pine and brothers Frankie and Tommy Pine.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Arthur, daughters Christine Hayward and Stephanie Perry Skriptshak, grandsons Brian and Kevin Beck, siblings Patricia Dennett, Gertrude Granger, Robert Pine, Catherine Batson and Michael Pine, many nieces and nephews and life-long friend Betty Jean.

Always putting others above her own wants and needs, we ask that you commit a random act of kindness in her memory.

A memorial service will be conducted at Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 1:00PM.

Family and friends are invited to a reception in the conference room at Howard Johnson Inn in Middletown following the ceremony.
