H. Albert “Al” Daniels, 85, of Portsmouth died Saturday, July 9, 2016, from cancer at Newport Hospital.

Mr. Daniels was born on September 12, 1930 in Melrose, MA. He is the son of the late H. Albert, Sr. and the late Elizabeth S. (Rydell) Daniels.

He was married to the late Alice P. (Kelly) Daniels for 61 years.

He retired in 1992 after 31 years at Raytheon in Portsmouth. An Air Force veteran, he served at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, IL. He earned his Mechanical Course Certificate from The Lowell Institute School at MIT in 1952.

Al enjoyed tree planting and yard work, square dancing with his wife, league bowling and the history of Colonial New England, the American Revolution and WWII. He loved maps and geography.

He is survived by his children, Maureen T. Daniels of Pawtucket, RI and Steven M. Daniels and his wife Susan E. Brandt of West Kingston, RI.

He is preceded in death by his son, Keith A. Daniels.

A committal service will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Columba Cemetery, Brown’s Lane in Middletown, RI.
