David Wolfenden, age 77, of Newport, RI died Thursday, July 21, 2016 at The Heatherwood Nursing And Subacute Center in Newport. Mr. Wolfenden was born May 26, 1939 in Newport, RI. He is the son of the late Brelsford and Marion (Hartley) Wolfenden.

David is a graduate of Rogers High School and The University of Rhode Island. He worked in radio for many years, starting with WADK and later helped start WINN. He spent several years in Bloomington, Illinois working in the radio field. He then returned to Newport and started a video production company where he filmed weddings and other events along with Newport and Middletown Town Council meetings. His last adventure was filming with drones.

He is survived by his lifelong friend Ralph Flint who care for him throughout his illness. He is also survived by his aunt, Evelyn Stevenson, his cousins; Phyllis Tennian, Margaret Kleven, Barbara Stevenson, Jaqueline Stevenson, and Robert Hartley Jr. and his beloved cat Oreo.

David was interred in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth in the Wolfenden family plot.

Ryan Belmore is the Owner and Publisher of What's Up Newp. He was born and raised in Rhode Island and graduated from Coventry High School. He serves as Vice President of Fort Adams Trust and serves on the Board of Directors for Potter League for Animals.
