Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen:Ready to Make Waves in Rhode Island
NewportShipyard General Manager Eli Dana announced back on November 19, 2015 that Newport Shipyard had acquired the Newport Charter Yacht Show from Newport Exhibition Group.
Scheduled forTuesday, June 21 through Friday, June 24, the Newport Charter Yacht Show has been around for 35 years, and this year it features 30 luxury charter yachts that have traveled to New England from around the globe. They will be docked at it’s new venue,Newport Shipyard.
“Newport Charter Yacht Show presented by Helly Hansen provides a platform for brokers and their clients to familiarize themselves with the charter yachts and their captains and crews that work the East Coast during the popular cruising months of June through September,” said Newport Shipyard General Manager Eli Dana. “At the same time, the four-day event allows builders and companies providing luxury products and yachting services to the industry to showcase their products.”
Thirty yachts are currently registered for the event. The participating yachts include 13 luxury sailing vessels, ranging from 53 to 123 feet, and nine motor vessels that each measure in at over 100 feet. The two largest motor vessels arethe 161-foot (49m) superyachtZoom Zoom Zoom,offeredby the brokerage firm of Northrop & Johnson, and the 160-foot (48.7m)Clarity, offered by IYC.
As presenting sponsor,Helly Hansenwill have a mobile pop-up shop on-site throughout the show. Exhibiting vendors, showing their wares along the main thoroughfare at Newport Shipyard, will includeAERE Marine Group; Aweigh Fitness;Cloud City Drones;Culinary Convenience;Global Satellite USA LLC;NMI – Permateek Synthetic;Nautic Crew Worldwide;Port Supply;Scavin Equipment Company LLC; andWheelHouse Technologies.U.S. Superyacht Associationwill have its own sponsors showing under the organization’s own special tent.
Bank Rhode Islandwill sponsor a daily breakfast on the “checkerboard patio” outside of Newport Shipyard’s popular eatery Belle’s Café. Special events start with a captain and crew’s briefing and happy-hour socialon Mondayand continue with a drone competition (captains only)on Tuesday; a yacht hopon Wednesday; anindustry-led educational seminar hosted byAmerican Yacht Charter Associationon Thursday; and ever-popular crew competitions (forBest Charter Yacht Chef, Tablescaping, Healthy Beverage and Sunset Canapes)on TuesdaythroughThursday. A party and awards dinner, sponsored byWard’s Marine Electricand featuring the music ofWill Evans, will take placeon Thursdayevening before the show’s final dayon Friday.
