Helen (Stashkow) Gallagher, 83, of Tiverton died Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence, RI. She was the wife of the late Richard W. Gallagher.

Born on December 10, 1933 in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Krysa) Stashkow. Helen was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School in Fall River. Her husband Richard was a 30 year veteran of the US Navy and Helen traveled to ports all over the world with him. When they retired from the Navy, they settled in Middletown, RI and lived there for 27 years. Helen had many pets over the years and loved them greatly. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening. She also liked going to the movies, theater, and Foxwoods.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Joan and Paul Pineau of Seekonk, MA, and Suzanne and Larry Castle of Lake Worth, FL, Sally and Bill Treadwell of Jacksonville, NC, Sandy and Les Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Larry and Becky Gallagher of Pottstown, PA, Donnajoy and Ben Mosser of Middletown, PA, and Beth, Jenny and David Miller.
She was the sister of the late Mitchell Stashkow and Mary (Stashkow) Gonsalves.

Belmore was born in Providence, Rhode Island; grew up and graduated high school in Coventry, Rhode Island; and lived in Newport, Rhode Island for more than ten years. He and his wife, Jen, as well as their two dogs (Aero and June), recently moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Belmore travels back and forth to Newport every couple of weeks to cover events, work on story ideas, to meet with What'sUpNewp's on-the-ground contributors, to visit friends, and to eat as much seafood as possible.

Belmore is a member of Local Independent Online News Publishers, Society of Professional Journalists, and the North American Snowsports Journalists Association.
