The public is invited to celebrate the launch of Velofix Southcoast RI-MA on May 27 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Newport Vineyards. Learn how to fix a flat tire, christen the Velofix van with champagne, and nibble light fare. The first 40 guests over the age of 21 will receive a free drink ticket. Children are invited to bring their bikes and ride a free balance bike course. Fifty lucky guests will receive a free Velofix water bottle. Velofix’s Southcoast RI-MA is owned and operated by Mike Lee, a certified bicycle mechanic. Lee is 20 year veteran of the sailing industry, where he has worked as a technical expert on sailboats in Grand Prix and Volvo Ocean Races. Lee’s expertise in carbon fiber and titanium sailing winch systems will serve him well as bicycles have similar mechanics. Given Lee’s passion for bicycling and mechanics, opening a Velofix Mobile Bike Shop was a natural step for him.
