The Providence Journal reports that the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) wants to be able to block Pell Bridge toll violators from getting their driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations renewed until they settle up.
A series of bills filed in the General Assembly on behalf of the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority would allow the agency to report toll violators to the Division of Motor Vehicles, which would place a hold on license and registration renewals. A similar hold on DMV services exists for Rhode Islanders with unpaid tax bills.
