Green Envy

After over 8 years in business Newport’s favorite Eco-Boutique is morphing into an exciting new entity.

Green Envy will move to the internet where customers can shop for all the best sellers and more at www.GreenEnvyShop.com. The shop will also travel throughout Rhode Island and New England to exhibit at Fairs and Festivals.

“Newport has been a wonderful home for Green Envy, our local customers are the best! This move is a new chapter; a way to reach more people and spread the awareness of sustainability,” Rachel Lessne, Owner of Green Envy, told What’sUpNewp.

Rachel will continue to speak at Universities sharing her knowledge of “green” business and entrepreneurship.

With this move to the internet Rachel will also be able to accomplish her dream of traveling to the countries where she sources her Fair Trade products.

A look inside Green Envy

“It’s always been my goal to be able to buy directly from the artisans, meet them in person, hear their stories, and see their working conditions for myself. I wouldn’t be able to do that with the brick and mortar store keeping me in Newport every week. The website will give me more freedom to expand and grow the business so it will reach more people and have a greater impact on the environment as well as people in need,” said Lessne.

Rachel opened Green Envy at the age of 23, exactly one year after graduating from The University of Rhode Island. She started the shop small, selling only a handful of products, being careful to only sell the most eco-friendly and ethically made items available. After 8 years in business the shop has grown tremendously, won 14 local and national awards, and now offers everything from skin care to jewelry, home decor to baby clothing. Yet the eco-friendly and fair trade standard has remained first priority. Customers can feel good about their purchases from Green Envy, knowing their money is supporting disadvantaged artisans as well as the planet.

Green Envy’s website www.GreenEnvyShop.com is up and running and will grow to include more items every week. Local customers can take advantage of Free Shipping by using Coupon Code GREENLOVE. Everything in Green Envy’s Newport Location – 8 Franklin Street is 50% off now through April. The shop will be open daily from 11am to 6pm, except closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the full online transition at the end of April.

Store fixtures, furniture, and displays are also available for purchase now through April.
