Paul Gordon Newport RI

Paul Gordon, a successful musician, composer, producer and Newport, R.I. native, passed away on Thursday in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 52 from ongoing health problems/complications.

Growing up in Newport, Gordon lived on Bedlow Ave, Malbone Road and was a proud member of Rogers High School Class of 1981.

Gordon leaves behind his wife Jennifer and two sons.

Gordon had been keyboardist and guitarist with The B-52’s since 2007 and had performed with the band at the Newport Yachting Center on June 21st, 2013. The B-52’s shared this on their Facebook Page on Thursday night around 8:15 p.m.

Gordon had also worked with Natasha Bedingfield, Goo Goo Dolls, Danielle Brisebois, New Radicals, Prince, Jennifer Nettles, Lisa Marie Presley, Charles and Eddie, The Devlins, Eran DD, Jeffrey Gaines, John Gregory, Nona Hendryx, Carly Hennessy, The Juliet Dagger, Jill Jones, Chaka Khan, Lila McCann, Mandy Moore, Jenny Muldaur, Trine Riene, Wild Orchid, and David Yazbek.

Gordon has also composed music for both television and film soundtracks. Clients have included The Fox Network, ABC Family and Spike TV Some of the compositions that he has written or co-written include the themes for DigimonTransformers: Robots in DisguisePower Rangers Wild Force, the Great Pretenders, and Stripperella.

Bands, other musicians, record companies and many fans took to social media on Thursday and Friday to remember and pay tribute to Gordon.
