President of the Senate M. Teresa Paiva Weed (D-13, Newport & Jamestown) will host a roundtable discussion of the Senate’s new Legislative Action Plan entitled “Grow Green Jobs RI” and related legislation on Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the State House in the Senate Lounge.

Among those expected to participate in the discussion are representatives of the Greater Providence, Northern Rhode Island, and Newport County chambers of commerce; Build RI; National Grid; Newport Biodiesel; the state Departments of Environmental Management, Labor and Training, and Education; the Office of Energy Resources; the Commerce Corporation; and the Commissioner of Postsecondary Education.

The legislative action plan is intended to facilitate job growth in a wide spectrum of “green industries,” including renewable energy, conservation, constructing environmentally sound infrastructure, agriculture, seafood, and recycling.

The discussion will be broadcast live on Capitol Television and streamed live on the General Assembly website.
