The Winter Storm Warning has been issued for heavy snow with accumulation of 6 to 12 inches, gusty winds up to 45 mph combined with the snow will result in blowing snow and poor visibilities at time.

- Today – Snow, mainly after 8am. High near 34. Windy, with a northeast wind 18 to 23 mph increasing to 25 to 30 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
- Tonight – Snow, mainly before 2am. Low around 25. Windy, with a north wind 26 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
- Sunday – A slight chance of snow before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. Breezy, with a north wind 14 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

- Jamestown Parking Ban – The Town will institute an emergency parking ban effective at noon on Saturday and continuing until 2 PM on Sunday. Please remove your vehicle in order to allow the public works department to effectively and safely clear the roads. Vehicles in violation are subject to being fined and towed. Be safe out there and remember, the less you travel, the faster the roads will be cleared by our plows!

- There will be a “Parking Ban” in effect at 10:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2016, until Sunday, January 24, 2016 at 8am due to the forecasted snow storm. Motor vehicles parked on such a street one-half hour after the public ban has been announced may be towed. Residents can utilize the following parking lots: Gateway Center, Mary Street lot, and Easton’s Beach free of charge during parking ban.The following streets are designated tow zones for emergency snow removal work:
- Bellevue Avenue:
- Kay Street to Bowery Street;
- Broadway;
- Friendship Street;
- Spring Street;
- Summer Street;
- Thames Street;
- Washington Square;
- West Marlborough Street;
- Van Zandt Avenue, from J.T. Connell Memorial Road east to Malbone Road.
- Please note the other city ordinances that apply during snow events:9.08.110. Snow removal.No owner, occupant or other person having the care of any building or lot of land bordering on any street, square or public place in the city, where there is a sidewalk, shall fail, within five hours of daylight, after the ceasing to fall of any snow, to cause the same to be removed from the sidewalk adjoining such building or lot, and in all streets where there is no curbstone set, a pathway, at least four feet wide, shall be made on and along the sidewalk aforesaid for the convenience of pedestrians.9.08.120. Ice removal.Whenever any sidewalk, or any part thereof, adjoining any building or lot of land on any street is encumbered with ice, no owner, occupant or other person having the care of such building or lot shall fail to cause such sidewalks to be made safe and convenient, by removing the ice therefrom or by covering the same with sand or ashes within four hours during the daytime.

- Town Of Portsmouth – A parking ban will be in effect Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10 AM tomorrow until Sunday, January 24, 2016 ending at 2 PM.
- Pre-K Fair – In light of the predictions for an early Saturday start to this weekend’s winter storm, the Pre-K Fair scheduled for tomorrow January 23, 2016 at Pell School has been rescheduled to next Saturday, January 30, 2016.
- Winter Storm Watch In Effect For Newport From Saturday Morning Through Sunday Morning
- Common Fence Music – A Gathering of Fiddlers and Fishermen #17 at Common Fence Point has been rescheduled to April 2, 2016
