Sail Newport will join forces with the R.I. Department of Environmental Management and fellow non-profit organization Clean Ocean Access to hold a clean-up of the Fort Adams State Park shoreline and beach on Sunday, January 31 at 11:00 a.m.

Recent nor’easters have deposited a considerable amount of marine debris on the shores of the state park and the organizations are asking for community volunteers to help on Sunday.

This is the first event in a series of beach cleanups planned for the Marine Debris Solutions Lifestyle Project (MDSL) coordinated by Clean Ocean Access and supported by a grant from Newport’s 11th Hour Racing. Hot chocolate and snacks will be supplied for volunteers.

Individuals are asked to email hannah.lasorsa@sailnewport.org. Sail Newport is located at 60 Fort Adams Dr., Newport, RI. Sail Newport will provide a confirmation of community service/volunteerism to those who request a letter.
