The Newport Fire & Police Departments will be assisting Santa Claus to tour the neighborhoods of Newport from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 pm on December 8th, 10th, 15th and 17th.
Santa’s visit is weather dependent. If there is inclement weather on any night he is scheduled, he will do his very best to complete his visit in that area of the City on the following night. If there are any cancellations please visit the Newport Fire Department’s Facebook page  for updates.

Santa’s planned routes are as follows:

Tuesday, December 8th
The North end of the City West of Broadway: Santa will travel from Touro St. to One Mile Corner, from Broadway to JT Connell Highway & Farewell St. These neighborhoods include Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd, Van Zandt Ave, Bedlow Ave. and Newport Heights
Thursday, December 10th
The North end of the City East of Broadway& Spring St.: Santa will travel from Memorial Blvd North to the Middletown line. These neighborhoods include Kay Street, Vernon Ave, Bliss Rd & Eustis Ave.


Section 1 (around 6:10 pm)
Broadway to Bliss Ave. and from the start of Bliss to the Middletown line
Section 2 (around 6:30 pm)
Bliss Road to Ellery Road and the Middletown line to Eustis Avenue
Section 3 (around 6:45 pm)
Bliss Road and Broadway to Kay Street and Ellery Road and from Eustis Avenue to Cranston Avenue
Section 4 (around 7 pm)
Broadway to Kay Street and Cranston Avenue to Touro Street
Section 5 (around 7:25 pm)
Ellery Road to Memorial Boulevard and Rhode Island Avenue to Eustis Avenue
Section 6 (around 7:40 pm)
Kay Street to Memorial Boulevard and Rhode Island Avenue to Bellevue Avenue

Tuesday, December 15th
The South end of the City West of Spring St. to Fort Adams and Touro St. to Harrison Ave.: These neighborhoods include Spring St. to Thames St. and the historic 5th Ward.
Thursday, December 17th
The Southeast end of the City & the Point section: He will travel East of Spring St. to Bellevue Ave. and Annanadale Rd and from Memorial Blvd to Ocean Ave. Also, Santa will be visiting the Point section, Bayside Village & Rolling Green neighborhoods.

Parents are encouraged to please make sure that your children are accompanied and that they greet him from the sidewalk and do not enter the roadway.

Santa can’t wait to see you all, but does not want any of the City’s children to get hurt. Keep your eyes and ears open for Santa’s approach on the dates listed for your area.

Ryan Belmore is the Owner and Publisher of What'sUpNewp. Although not the founder or original owner, Belmore has been with What'sUpNewp since its early beginnings in 2012.

Belmore was born in Providence, Rhode Island; grew up and graduated high school in Coventry, Rhode Island; and lived in Newport, Rhode Island for more than ten years. He and his wife, Jen, as well as their two dogs (Aero and June), recently moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Belmore travels back and forth to Newport every couple of weeks to cover events, work on story ideas, to meet with What'sUpNewp's on-the-ground contributors, to visit friends, and to eat as much seafood as possible.
