Newport Marriott is feeling the spirit of the season and guests and locals alike are invited to get in the festive mood with an array of cheerful activities, dining specials and guestroom packages. The hotel is celebrating its first holiday season after completing a grand transformation in the spring. Now, decked out for a coastal winter wonderland, the hotel invites visitors to spread cheer throughout December.
Newport Marriott’s downtown location and easy proximity to numerous shops, boutiques and popular sights make an ideal place for a holiday gift-shopping weekend away. December 1st marks the opening of the annual “Christmas in Newport”festival – a month-long program that celebrates the non-commercial traditions of the holiday season. During this time, Newport Marriott joins the fun with three special offers and activities:
Wrappy Hour: Give and You Shall Receive
Take a breath from the Black Friday rush and make the last few gift items on your holiday shopping list a bit more enjoyable this December. Every Friday & Saturday in December (December 4th through 19th) visit the Plank Bar at Newport Marriottbetween 4-6pm for “Wrappy Hour” and have up to two gifts wrapped per person while enjoying a specialty cocktail from the Plank Bar’s prohibition-era theme, such as The Sidecar. Donations of $2 per wrapped gift are suggested and Newport Marriott will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Good Tidings & Cheers!
Newport Marriott’s Executive Chef Eric Steinhauer is once again creating a masterpiece 16-foot Gingerbread Lighthouse that will be on display at the Newport Visitor Information Center next door to the hotel. Come view this jaw-dropping, mouthwatering holiday display beginning November 27th through January 1. The team devotes 100 hours to baking, building and decorating the lighthouse which includes 350 pounds of gluten-free, organic gingerbread (1600 bricks), 2,400 pieces of candy and giant lollipops, and 20 gallons of royal icing!
Afterwards, grab a more manageable sized dessert and catch up with old friends; enjoy an annual co-worker outing, or a special mother-daughter meal post holiday shopping at MainSail Restaurant or Skiff Bar. The Fall menu includes new seasonal items like Pan Seared Atlantic Salmon with roasted fall vegetables, wilted baby kale and toasted walnut maple vinaigrette; and the Newport Storm Braised Boneless Short Rib with sweet potato puree and fried fingerling crisps.
