Gallery Night is back with the latest collections, exhibitions and events from the Newport Gallery Organization’s 28 member galleries and institutions.
Support local art and community by strolling through historic Newport on Thursday, November 12, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Join the Newport Gallery Organization as it celebrates the final days of fall before embracing another exciting holiday season.
During Gallery Night, Spring Bull Gallery, located on Bellevue Avenue, will be hosting artists Richard Harrington, Elena Obelenus, Kathleen Morton, and Maryann Tirocchi for an exhibition titled “Abstract and Realism,” featuring oils, ceramics, printmaking, and encaustics. Award winning artist Richard Harrington is widely recognized for the use of strong composition and saturated color in his monotypes while printmaker Elena Obelenus explores relationship, line and form through her prints and ceramic work. Drawing inspiration from nature, Kathleen Morton uses hot wax to create one-of-a-kind encaustic paintings. Artist Maryann Tirocchi’s relies on the vibrancy of oil paint to create her deeply layered still life and landscape paintings. Spring Bull Gallery’s exhibition will run until November 30, 2015.
Meanwhile, C. L. Sherman’s Gallery will be offering a new selection of fall and winter jackets, shawls, sweaters, and hats, all made by local artists. C. L. Sherman’s Gallery is located in the historic Hotel Viking on Bellevue Avenue in downtown Newport. Over on Aquidneck Avenue in Middletown, DeBlois Gallery will be hosting its Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts show from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The show, which will run from November 7 to December 24, will showcase the works of over 50 local artisans, including art work, jewelry, dishware, clothing and accessories.
