Fort Adams Santa

The Fort Adams Trust located at 90 Fort Adams Drive Newport, RI announces that the trust will be undertaking multiple holiday activities and events for deployed service members, the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, as well as holding special children’s events.

For deployed service members, the fort is coordinating with Newport and Middletown elementary and middle schools, local libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCAs to create holiday cards for distribution to deployed service members. The cards should be dropped off at the fort by December 5th in time for holiday distribution to service members.  The United States Postal Service is sending them out free of charge.

For the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, the fort will be hosting a canned food drive for those in need.  All contributions should be brought to the fort also by December 5th so that the center has time to stock their shelves.

Special Breakfast with Santa and Cookies with Mrs. Claus events will be held on Saturday, December 5th.  The breakfasts will be held 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and 10:30 – 11:30 AM while the cookies’ events will be held 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.  Each event is limited to 25 seats for children five years and older with each seat available for $15.  As the seats are limited, it is highly recommended that reservations be made in advance at (401) 841-0707.  While the children are enjoying their time with Claus family parents can take a one hour tour of the fort at the standard tour prices.
“Providing our service members with holiday cards created by children should bring a welcome and well deserved smile to those dedicated service members who are deployed away from their family and loved ones, “ stated newly hired fort Executive Director Joe Dias.  “Helping the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center stock their shelves for families in need is critical, especially at this time of the year.  And as for the children’s events, nothing is better than to see the warm glow on their faces when meeting Mr. and Mrs. Claus,” Dias added.
