Fall doesn’t officially arrive until September 23rd, and there’s still plenty of great things to do this SUMMER and in September in the The City By The Sea.

1 – newportFILM Outdoor Screenings | September 3 & 10

2 – The Sandlot at Cardines Field | September 4th
What’s better than watching The Sandlot? Watching The Sandlot at an historic baseball field! Join OceanPointe, a non-denominational, independent, christian church, on Friday, September 4th for a fun evening as they present a free screening of The Sandlot at Cardines Field. MORE INFO
3 – Final Weekend Out On The ABC Patio | September 5th – 7th
With the sale of the Atlantic Beach Club to Longwood Events earlier this year now complete, this will be final weekend live music performance out on the Atlantic Beach Club Patio before the ABC closes for good in January. Ways & Means ( 9/5), Never In Vegas (9/6) and Roomful of Blues (9/7) are scheduled to perform each day from 1:30pm – 5:30pm.
4 – Newport International Polo Series | September 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th
The final month of the 2015 Newport International Polo Series in Portsmouth has sadly arrived! Catch USA vs England (9/5), the New England Challenge (9/12), USA vs Mexico (9/19) and/or the Finals (9/26). All matches start at 4pm in September. MORE INFO
5 – Newport Fall Secret Garden Tour | September 11 – 13
Enjoy self-guided walking tours of private gardens located in historic Newport, Rhode Island. Each tour features about a dozen beautiful gardens. The tours run daily from 10am-5pm and tickets are good for any or all days of the tour, allowing for inclement weather, schedule conflicts, or just a late start. MORE INFO
6 – Newport International Boat Show | September 17 – 20
Set for September 17-20th, 2015 on Newport Harbor, the Newport International Boat Show (NIBS) flaunts its destination and sailing history to attendees making fall travel plans. NIBS is the kick-off to the boat show season and a prime time to experience fall in New England. It’s also one of the country’s largest in-water boat shows, NIBS hosts exhibitors from around the world with an exceptional assortment of sailboats, powerboats, marine equipment, services and accessories. 7 – RI Antique Fire Apparatus Society Annual Show | September 20
A display of antique motorized fire apparatus and other fire memorabilia will be on display at Glen Park in Portsmouth on September 20th from 10am – 3pm. MORE INFO
8 – Newport Sharkfest Swim | September 20
The 3rd Annual Newport Sharkfest Swim will take place along the historic waterfront of Newport at 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 20th! The 1500 meter swim will start at the harbormaster’s dock in Perrotti Park in front of the Newport Marriott Hotel and finish on the beach at King Park. MORE INFO
9 – Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival | September 25 – 27
The Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival will return for its 10th year from September 25 – 27, 2015. Once again, the Marble House lawn will be the setting for the two-day Grand Tasting, which offers guests the chance to sample hundreds of wines from around the world and cuisine from nearly two dozen regional restaurants and caterers. 10 – 54th Annual Cluny School Fair | September 27
This old-fashioned country fair from 10 am – 4pm on September 27th features carnival games & prizes, hayrides, a Zip-line, dunk tank and fun for all ages. Family-oriented live musical entertainment throughout the day. Home-baked goods, refreshments, plants, arts & craft, and a giant silent auction. Held rain or shine.

REMINDER – Free Preservation Society Of Newport County Tours
The Preservation Society of Newport County is offering all Newport residents and their families to enjoy all regularly scheduled tours of the Newport Mansions for free in 2015. Any resident member of your family is welcome to enjoy any regular tour, any day of the week, just by showing proof of City of Newport residency at the ticket station at any one of the Newport Mansions. Free admission for Newport residents is available at The Breakers, The Elms, Marble House, and Green Animals Topiary Garden.
