Atlantic Beach Club, an Aquidneck Island institution for decades, saw live music out on their patio come to a close over Labor Day Weekend.
Hundreds of people showed up Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday to celebrate the final few days of the live music on the patio, an end of an epic era.
Some dedicated Atlantic Beach Club fans showed up as early as 10 a.m. throughout the weekend, nearly four hours before the bands started.
The HonkyTonk Knights, Wayz & Means, Never In Vegas, Mark Morris & The Catunes and Roomful Of Blues kept the patio rockin’ throughout the weekend.
Miss the weekend of live music? The outside bar on the patio will remain open (weather dependent) throughout the rest of the summer and the inside restaurant will continue to operate per usual with their great food and live music throughout the end of 2015.
Ownership of the Atlantic Beach Club will open a new restaurant called the ‘Atlantic Resort’ in 2016.
Alana Cerrone from ABC6 visited the Atlantic Beach Club Patio on its final day of live music – Atlantic Beach Club celebrates a bittersweet end to summer
It was announced on February 19th that LONGWOOD, a leader in special events and destination venues, would be purchasing the Atlantic Beach Club and opening it as a new waterfront wedding venue, the Newport Beach House, in 2016.
This is Longwood’s second venue in Newport, following the success of Belle Mer, which opened in 2006 and was named one of best venues in America for 2015.
While design work is already underway, the renovation and conversion of the iconic property will begin in early 2016. The Atlantic Beach Club will remain unchanged and still run by current management for the remainder of 2015, LONGWOOD will take over operations of the property in January, 2016.
