Summer in Newport, RI is winding down, sigh! Luckily there are many road races scheduled over the next few months across Aquidneck Island to give us all great reasons to be outside!

1 – StarRide | September 13, 2015

Cluny School will host the 4th annual StarRide on September 13th, 2015. With six gorgeous routes to choose from in the Ocean Drive area, it’s a fun filled run, ride or walk event fit for the entire family. More Info

2 – Harvest Wine Run |  September 13, 2015

The Harvest Wine Run is a unique race for Rhode Island that combines a running event with a wine tasting at the Newport Vineyards. The race will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 when the vineyard is in full bloom and the grapes are ready for harvest. More Info

3 – TriNewport | September 13, 2015

Starting at Second Beach, enjoy as a participant or in a team relay a 1/4 mile ocean swim, 10.5 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run on September 13th, 2015. More Info

4 –  Summer’s End 5k | September 26, 2015

The Portsmouth Business Association (PBA) will host a “Summer’s End” 5K run/walk on Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Portsmouth, RI. This is a flat and fast 5K course with scenic water views. Leashed pets and baby strollers are welcome. More Info

5 – 14th Annual 5k Mansion Run and Walk | October 3, 2015

The USATF-certified 5K (3.1 mile) course starts and finishes on the Salve Regina campus and includes a run through Newport’s historic Bellevue Avenue/Ochre Point neighborhood of Gilded Age mansions and spectacular oceanside landscapes. More Info

6 – Newport Marathon/ Half Marathon | October 11, 2015

The Newport Marathon & Half Marathon, organized by Gray Matter Marketing, will take place on October 11, 2015 and feature all of the beauty and grandeur the City By The Sea has to offer. The only marathon and half-marathon in Newport, the course is simply astounding: winding ocean-side roads, miles of waterfront views and sweeping vistas of the grand mansions along Bellevue Avenue. 7 – Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run | October 25, 2015

The Citizens Bank Pell Bridge Run is a 4 mile run/walk produced by the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority. 100% of net proceeds from this event will go to support local not for profit organizations. More Info

8 – Race for Open Space 5K Run & Walk | November 7, 2015

This scenic, cross-country 5-kilometer race on ALT’s Sakonnet Greenway Trail is a unique and exciting addition to the local race circuit. Though not allowed in the running category, leashed dogs and strollers are welcome in the walking category of the race. Entry fee is $20 with proceeds from the race directed towards operations of the Aquidneck Land Trust and further maintenance of the Sakonnet Greenway Trail, the largest nature trail on Aquidneck Island. Teams are welcome and encouraged to participate! More Info

9 – The Pie Run | November 26, 2015

This annual event put on by the YMCA is a certified and generally flat course. Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the race that will be donated to a local food bank. More Info
