Oysters – they’re filter-feeders, bottom-dwellers, and just downright delicious. The What’sUpNewp Crew has got the lowdown on the top six oyster joints close to home and how much dough you should bring when you go.

1. Benjamin’s

Old Benny’s never failed us before and they continue to knock our socks off every summer. With a raw bar that’s open from 7 am until midnight with oysters $2.25 a piece, how could it get any better? $1.00 oysters every day from 12:00-2:00 pm and all day on Tuesday. That’s how.

2. Flo’s

Really, who could ask for a better location? Just off of First Beach, Flo’s is cookin’ up some serious grub that can only be categorized as Rhodie-style. Hot stuff on the first floor, raw stuff on the second where you can find oysters for $1.95. Check it out for a top-off on your already awesome beach day.

3. Lobster Bar

From the same folks that brought you the Landing, the “new” Lobster Bar is now open for business, with oysters coming in at $2.50 each. Get a dozen or try a sampler and enjoy one of the best views in town!

4. Midtown Oyster Bar

With a name that has “oyster” right in it, it’s only proper for Midtown Oyster Bar to offer the areas largest working raw bar around. With oysters ranging from $2 – $3 a piece, plenty of raw bar specials and their own Harpoon Brewery Oyster Stout; Midtown could be called the “Disney World” for oyster lovers.

Don’t miss Champagne & Shells every Tuesday night, buy a glass of champagne and receive 3 complimentary oysters, buy a bottle of champagne and receive a dozen complimentary oysters.

5. The Mooring

The Raw Bar at The Mooring; it elevates the raw bar scene in Newport to a whole new level! Offering 6 varieties of oysters at $2.95 a piece, raw bar platters and an incredible view, it’s worthy of your shucking adventures.

6. The Port

Beautiful views, live music, outdoor patio, and a half-dozen oysters for just $13, what could be better? Nothing. If you haven’t made it to the Port yet, you’re more than missing out, friend. Make this your place whether you’re going out with the buds or have a romantic date night planned. Be sure to tell ‘em Newp sent you.
