City of Newport announces new litter campaign

Chris Electric

The City of Newport, via their Engaged Newport newsletter, announced on Friday that they are “changing the way Newport handles litter”.

The email introducing the “No Litter Here” campaign stated;

As the City of Newport prepares to celebrate Earth Day on April 22 and the warmer days ahead, we would like to introduce residents, businesses and visitors to our very own Litter Campaign! The campaign will kick off with the launch of a microsite featuring basic facts about litter and its effects, Newport business models that are setting a great example, interactive games for the little ones and helpful resources from communities around the world that have shared the ways in which they have tackled trash in their area. The site is intended to inform all who enjoy spending time in Newport of the importance of a clean city and what they can do to contribute in the fight against litter. You will also notice vibrant posters and banners around town making some strong statements. Our parks, beaches and public open spaces are not a trash can!
