The International Tennis Hall of Fame’s 2025 Induction Celebration opened Thursday with waterfront activities and an evening dinner, launching three days of events honoring this year’s inductees.
The festivities began at Bowen’s Wharf with The Tennis Wave presented by 11th Hour Racing, featuring a portable tennis court hosting USTA Red Ball Clinics, a Bryan brothers demonstration and Hall of Famer Q&As with Tracy Austin and Bob & Mike Bryan.
Later Thursday evening, the inaugural Fit for Fame dinner for the Class of 2025 was held at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. This year’s inductees, Maria Sharapova and Bob & Mike Bryan, were presented with Brooks Brothers ITHF blazers. The event included a Q&A by Tennis Channel’s Brett Haber and a chat with Hall of Famer Jim Courier.
Joining the Class of 2025 on stage for a group photo were Hall of Famers Tracy Austin, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Chris Evert, Rosie Casals, Gigi Fernandez, Kim Clijsters, Stan Smith, Rick Draney, Richard Evans and Jim Courier.
The celebration continues Friday with Fame Fest & Food Truck Festival from noon to 6 p.m. at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. ITHF President Patrick McEnroe will host a live recording of TennisWorthy, the Podcast on the Horseshoe Court at 1:45 p.m.
At 2 p.m. on Stadium Court, celebrities Uzo Aduba, Hannah Berner and Angela Kinsey will take to the court with Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and Class of 2025 inductees Bob and Mike Bryan in the Celebrity Pro Classic.
Friday evening features the Courting Fashion event at Marble House mansion at 7:30 p.m., showcasing some of Maria Sharapova’s career looks plus fashions from the ITHF archives.
Saturday’s activities include Fame Fest from noon to 8 p.m., live podcast recordings with Andy Roddick (Served at 2 p.m.) and Kim Clijsters (Love All at 3:30 p.m.), the Induction Ceremony at 6 p.m. on the Horseshoe Court, and a concert by Fitz and the Tantrums at 8 p.m. on Stadium Court.

Ryan Belmore is the owner and publisher of What's Up Newp. He took over the publication in 2012 and has grown it into a three-time Rhode Island Monthly Best Local News Blog (2018, 2019, 2020).
He was named LION Publishers Member of the Year in 2020 and received the Dominique Award from the Arts & Cultural Society of Newport County the same year. He has been awarded grants for investigative and community journalism, and continues to coach and mentor new local news publications nationwide.
Ryan is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, Online News Association, and Local Independent Online News Publishers. He is committed to the codes of ethics of these organizations: accuracy, independence, accountability, and transparency.
In Newport, Ryan served on the boards of the Fort Adams Trust and Potter League for Animals, and hosted a daily radio talk show for four years.
In 2021, Ryan moved to Alexandria, Virginia, to support his wife Jen's career. He launched The Alexandria Brief in 2025, applying what he learned in Newport to a new community. With the help of some talented on-the-ground contributors, he still runs What's Up Newp — and always will.
