FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — With his team leading by 10 points and facing a long third down late in the fourth, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith was calm. Find a way to pick up a first down and eat some clock, and the Patriots would be left in desperation mode. But a three-and-out could […]

By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Pro Football Writer EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Soon after Mike Vrabel was hired as head coach of the New England Patriots earlier this year, his counterpart with the Minnesota Vikings, Kevin O’Connell, called with a invitation. Joint practice, our place. Just like we did it before. Two years after Vrabel brought the Tennessee Titans […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The first time TreVeyon Henderson touched the ball in an NFL game, he went nearly untouched by anyone else. The Patriots rookie running back erupted for a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the game, helping power New England to a 48-18 exhibition win over the Washington Commanders on Friday night. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Tom Brady’s statue weighs six tons and rises 17 feet off the ground, from the bottom of the six-sided base — one for each of the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl victories — to the tip of the bronze fist raised in celebration. For a player who was too slow and […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in Washington’s exhibition opener at New England, coach Dan Quinn said. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota was among multiple players that did not travel. Mariota is working through a lower leg strain, Quinn said. That means quarterbacks Josh Johnson and Sam Hartman will handle the […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Drake Maye got a crash course in confronting change during his first NFL season. The 2024 third overall draft pick took on expected challenges, such as becoming a rookie starter in Week 6 for a New England Patriots team that was 1-4 at the time. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Patriots concluded a bitter season on a high note. It wasn’t enough to save their coach’s job. Joe Milton III passed for a touchdown and ran for another in his professional debut, and the Patriots cost themselves the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft with a […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Patriots are focused on the future following their 25-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. The Patriots (3-10) were officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss Sunday, meaning that this week’s bye in many ways will begin the process of the coaching staff and front office evaluating the roster […]

The New England Patriots entered Sunday’s matchup with the Miami Dolphins feeling like they were a team ready to turn a corner after a season’s worth of struggles. A 34-15 loss in Miami revealed just how much more work is left to do before they can make that pronouncement. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye struggled to make sense […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Matthew Stafford remembers what didn’t go right during his last visit to New England, in 2014 when he was still with the Detroit Lions. “We came in with I think the No. 1 or top five rush defense in the league. I’m not sure they ran it once,” Stafford said this […]

Jerod Mayo has vowed the second half of the Patriots’ season will be focused on making positive steps toward the future. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs acquired pass rusher Josh Uche from the New England Patriots for a 2026 sixth-round pick on Monday, giving one of the NFL’s best defenses an upgrade at a position where it was looking for some help. Uche will take the roster spot of tight end Jody […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Inches from the goal line with one last chance to punch in the game-winning score, the New England Patriots proved to be tough enough to beat Aaron Rodgers and the stumbling New York Jets. Rhamondre Stevenson plunged through the line for his second touchdown with 22 seconds left on Sunday and […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Jets are too flat. The Patriots are too soft. What was once a fight for supremacy in the AFC East now sounds more like a Yelp review for throw pillows. Losers of their last four games, the New York Jets (2-5) stumble into New England on Sunday to play the […]

The New England Patriots’ six-game losing streak may not hurt as much as their coach calling them soft. After a 32-16 loss in London to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who came into the game tied with New England at the bottom of the NFL with just one win, coach Jerod Mayo admitted what anyone watching his once-proud franchise […]

Drake Maye should have a more favorable matchup in his second NFL start. Just ask fellow rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Maye and the skidding New England Patriots will travel across the pond to play the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday. And no one needs to point out Jacksonville’s defensive flaws to […]

By BRENDAN McGAIR Associated Press FOXBOROUGH, Mass. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The Miami Dolphins made just enough plays to beat the New England Patriots and enough mistakes to lose to just about anyone else. A blocked punt. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — This could have been a matchup of exciting young quarterbacks, with Tua Tagovailoa and Drake Maye taking the field for the Dolphins and Patriots. Rhamondre Stevenson was supposed to give the New England Patriots one position it didn’t have to worry about coming into the season. The New England Patriots showed in Week 2 why they are sticking with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback over first-round draft pick Drake Maye. Not because Brissett is moving the offense with his arm, or even his legs. But because it’s not yet safe for Maye to line up behind the Patriots’ offensive line. Brissett was […]

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Patriots were so bad last year they fired six-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick.
