For the past four weeks USA Today readers have been voting daily in the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards in the following categories Best Destination for Culturephiles, Best Destination for History Buffs, Best Destination for Luxury Travelers, Best Destination for Outdoor Enthusiasts and Best Destination for Shopaholics.
Newport, RI has landed in the top 10 in two categories, Best Destination for History Buffs (#7) and Best Destination for Luxury Travelers (#10).
In each category a panel of experts picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote.
The top 10 winners in the category Best Destination for History Buffs are as follows:
