Portsmouth boys lacrosse jumped out to a commanding early lead and held off a late rally from Toll Gate to win 16-4 on Thursday at Portsmouth High School.
Portsmouth carried a 13-2 advantage into the third quarter before the visitors stormed back in the second half, trimming the deficit to two goals before the final whistle.
Coach Willauer named senior midfielder Luke Brandariz his player of the game. Brandariz finished with one goal and three assists.
Teddy Gersen paced the Portsmouth offense with four goals and an assist. Rafe Dionne contributed two goals and two assists, and Oliver Melanson added a goal and two assists.
For Toll Gate, Maddox Schulde led the way with two goals and an assist. Nick Hazelwood and Christopher Herrera each scored once.
