Newport Sings presents annual “Song Fest” on May 2 at Portsmouth Middle School (Newport Sings)

Newport Sings will present its annual Song Fest on Saturday, May 2, at 4 p.m. at Portsmouth Middle School, 125 Jepson Lane.

The concert will feature four ensembles. The Newport County Youth Chorus, made up of students in grades one through six, will perform songs about nature from their session “Songs of the Earth.” The Aquidneck Singers, a multigenerational women’s chorus, will present “In a Word,” a set of songs with one-word titles. Quorus, Newport’s only LGBTQIA+ chorus, will perform a set called “Rise Up” featuring songs including “Defying Gravity” and “I’m Still Standing.” Community Sing will round out the program with audience favorites.

There are no advance tickets. A suggested donation of $20 per person or $40 per family will be accepted at the door by credit card, cash or check. Donations are tax-deductible, with all proceeds supporting Newport Sings programs. Donations can also be made ahead of the event at newportsings.org/events.

The concert is supported in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
