Several roads will be closed Saturday afternoon for Portsmouth High School’s annual homecoming parade.

The parade will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. and is expected to conclude by 1 p.m., according to a notice from the town.

The parade will start on East Main Road at Patriots Drive and travel south on East Main Road before turning west onto Freeborn Street to Turnpipe Avenue. Participants will then head north on Turnpike Avenue to Memorial Drive, where the parade will end at the football field.

Side streets along the route will be blocked off with saw-horses and traffic will be diverted during the event.

The Portsmouth Police Department announced the following closures:

— East Main Road for southbound traffic will be closed just prior to the parade’s start at Patriots Drive.

— East Main Road for northbound traffic will be closed at Turnpike Avenue when the parade begins.

— Turnpike Avenue will be closed between East Main Road and Memorial Drive.

Motorists are encouraged to use Route 114, West Main Road, to avoid traffic congestion.Retry
