The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center is launching a film series this month honoring the late Robert Redford, showcasing eight of the actor and filmmaker’s most celebrated works over the coming months.

Redford died Sept. 16 at age 89.

Remembering Robert Redford” kicks off Sunday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. with a screening of the classic western “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” the 1969 film that helped cement Redford’s status as a Hollywood star.

The series spans nearly six months and includes two Best Picture winners: “Out of Africa” (1985), screening Nov. 1, and “Ordinary People” (1980), which Redford directed, showing Nov. 19. The retrospective celebrates Redford’s screen work, his Oscar-winning directing, and his advocacy for independent cinema through the creation of the Sundance Film Festival.

“If you’re a film lover you loved Robert Redford, consciously or not—for he belonged to an elite tier in the history of motion pictures,” organizers said in announcing the series.

The complete lineup includes:

  • “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” – Sunday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.
  • “Out of Africa” – Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m.
