Taste of Newport (via Child & Family)

Six local restaurateurs who helped establish Newport as a premier dining destination will be honored at the 42nd Annual Taste of Newport on Nov. 2 at the Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa.

The event will recognize Sue Lamond of Salvation Cafe, Richard “Biggy” Korn and Maria Ranftle of Yesterday’s, Peter Crowley of La Forge Casino Restaurant, Richard Sardella of Sardella’s, Tom Callahan of Callahan’s Café Zelda and David Killroy of The Landing for their contributions to the city’s culinary scene and longtime support of Child & Family, a Rhode Island nonprofit.

“This year’s Taste of Newport will honor the legends of the Newport culinary community — local restaurateurs whose exceptional talent and years of dedication made a lasting impact on our city,” said Event Chair and Board Member Siobhan Kits van Heyningen.

More than 350 guests are expected to attend the event, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and features tastings from over 20 local restaurants, breweries, wineries and caterers.

All proceeds from ticket sales and a silent auction will support Child & Family programs and services. Founded in 1866, Child & Family is one of Rhode Island’s largest and oldest nonprofit organizations serving children, families and seniors.

“Taste of Newport is more than a celebration of food — it’s a celebration of community,” said Susan Jacobsen, CEO of Child & Family. “For over four decades, this event has brought together local talent and generous supporters whose commitment ensures that Child & Family can continue strengthening the lives of children, families and individuals of all ages.”
