The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for our area. This advisement goes into effect this evening and will continue through Sunday morning. Tonight temperatures are expected to be as low as 18 degrees with sustained Northwest winds of 8 to 18 mph. Saturday night temperatures are expected to be as low 13 degrees with sustained Northwest winds of 14 to 21 mph. Due to the persistent winds in conjunction with the forecasted low temperatures wind chill values could be as low as -2 degrees at times over the weekend.

The City Of Newport has announced that the locations listed below will be open, as indicated, for those needing to seek relief from the cold.

Sunday                      7 am to 12 pm

*In addition to their regular hours the Seamen’s Church Institute will be open overnight tonight and Saturday night before closing at noon on Sunday.
